Meet Jack Knox – Author of Learning Life’s Lessons with Stock Dogs
Jack Knox hails from Ettrick Valley, Scotland, a rural expanse of the Scottish/Anglo border region, that region being the very namesake of the dog that has shaped Jack’s life: the Border Collie. Jack is a celebrated herding dog trainer, renowned for his unique approach to training that cultivates a dog’s intelligence and instincts to herd rather than tightly controlling a dog’s movements. Jack’s work with dogs brought him to the United States in 1971 where he has enjoyed a long, illustrious career that includes founding Ettrick Kennels, teaching herding dog clinics across North America, winning many dog trials including the USBCHA National Finals, and in 2003 being inducted into the America Border Collie Association Hall of Fame. Jack and his wife,Kathy, also a distinguished herding dog trainer, live in Butler, Missouri.
